gut-health-thailandPeople may cleanse for a number of reasons but one of the most profound and life changing benefits of a well structured professionally supervised detox program is to support intestinal health by carefully removing and supporting the elimination of harmful toxins, parasites, heavy metals, excess hormones, bacteria, yeast overgrowth and intestinal infections.

In the process of detoxification, the gastrointestinal tract, immune system, elimination channels and body have to be adequately nurtured and supported. The Amity Wellness cleansing programs have been designed with this very specific criteria; to provide a deep and powerful intestinal cleanse that will not only restore gut health and function but could in turn have a catalyst effect on overall health, energy and vitality.

The herbal formulas created for the Amity Wellness detox programs have been carefully selected to provide a powerful cleanse to remove toxins, reduce systemic inflammation, heal and seal the gut lining and re-inoculate the gut microflora.

Gut dysfunction can stem from an excess of stress, a low fibre diet, high sugar consumption, intestinal infections, high alcohol intake, too many antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs and other medications, food intolerances, chemicals, pollutants, bacteria, toxins, parasites and other harmful microbes.

More than 2000 years ago the wise Hippocrates theorised that all disease begins in the gut, which isn’t surprising when you consider that over 60% of our immune system is located within the gut. An unhealthy or compromised over toxic or damaged gut can contribute to a whole array of conditions including depression, eczema, psoriasis, leaky gut, auto-immune conditions, cellulite, chronic fatigue, thyroid problems, mental illness and mood disorders, candida overgrowth, SIBO, IBS and much more.

At Amity Wellness we support a very effective Gut healing protocol designed to Remove toxins, Re-regulate digestion, Repair the lining of the gut and Re-inoculate the friendly flora. Our team of experts are always on hand to support our guests throughout the program and they use a series of health talks and demonstrations offering practical tips and simple but delicious recipes to incorporate once returning home.

Here are some simple functional steps for repairing the gut, improving digestion and restoring optimal gut health:

Remove- Inflammatory Foods, Parasites, Heavy Metals, Excess Hormones, Bacteria, Candida, Infections, Toxins

The first step is to remove the underlying cause of inflammation in the gut. A powerful intestinal cleansing program is the most efficient way to achieve this.

IgG food sensitivity testing can be used to determine what foods are a problem and should be avoided post cleanse but whether you do this test or not during the gut healing protocol be sure to eliminate common inflammatory foods such as Gluten, Dairy, Sugar, Processed foods, HFCS, Commercially raised Meats, Hydrogenated Oils, Alcohol and all Genetically modified foods.

Infections can be from parasites, yeast or bacteria. Removing the infections may require treatment with herbs, anti-parasite supplements or anti-fungal herbs.

Rgut-health-thailande-Regulate Digestion and Assimilation

Following the removal of injurious allergens and toxins from the digestive system, it is now imperative to restore digestion to an optimal level. Following a whole food preferably organic diet and taking a full spectrum Digestive Enzyme is recommended to support digestion. Supplement with Bile acids if your Gall Bladder is compromised. Use cleansing herbs such as milk thistle to support the liver. Use Apple Cider Vinegar and pickled ginger to naturally restore Hydrochloric acid (HCL) levels or use HCL supplement that contains Pepsin if you fail the HCL test and don’t have H.Pylori.

Test For Low HCL – The Bicarbonate Challenge test

The baking soda test: Mix 1 level tsp of Bicarbonate Soda (baking soda) in a small glass of water, drink it and measure the time on your watch. A person with a normal level of stomach acid will burp within two minutes. If you haven’t burped in five minutes, you can stop timing as your stomach acid is evidently very weak.

Repair and Heal the Gut

Holistic supplements and a nutrient rich diet can be used to repair and regenerate any remaining damage to the lining of the GI tract. L-Gluatamine or DGL supplements helps to rejuvenate the gut wall lining. Omega 3 fish oils or turmeric are great for reducing inflammation. Herbs such as slippery elm or aloe vera are very soothing. Bone broth can be used as it is rich in Glycine and Proline, two essential amino acids used for repair of the gut. Vegan broth is also very beneficial as its rich in vitamins and minerals. Other key nutrients include Magnesium, Zinc and Vitamin E and any blend of Alkalising Organic Superfoods are a great asset.

Re-Inoculate the Gut Microflora

In order to restore balance and health to the gut and body, healthy bacteria are needed to repopulate and strengthen the immunity of the gut. At the end of the cleansing program our guests receive a high potency probiotic implant to support the integrity of the gut microflora. After completion of the cleanse, it is important to incorporate plenty of fermented foods such as Kim Chi, Sauerkraut, Pickled Ginger and Coconut Kefir. If you don’t consume a large amount of fermented foods, it’s a good idea to take high-potency probiotics with at least 10-20 billion colony forming units (CFU) and a good mix of lactobacillus and bifidus cultures. Also, taking a prebiotic (food for the good bacteria) supplement or consuming foods high soluble fibre is very important.
